June 10, 2010 Phil was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Brain Tumor, a cancerous growth, on the bottom right side of his head below his ear. At 27 years old, he had just arrived in St. Louis, MO for his MBA studies at St. Louis University and was setting up his new College life in Missouri. He underwent immediate brain surgery at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis with world-renowned Surgeon Dr. Dacey. The surgery was very successful but, in the process, damaged nerves in the brain caused "hemi-paresis" where Phil could not move his left side. In addition, he no longer had short term memory. Fortunately, the Brain is extremely regenerative, and his Family and Doctors focused on his rehabilitation after the surgery. His short-term memory restored and he was able to again hit golf balls on the driving range in September 2011. Phil passed in 2013 at the age of 30 years in St Louis MO.
